Voith Paper webshop makes ordering a convenient process

In time and budget: rollout after six months

The Voith paper concern presented the new Voith paper webshop in June during this year's customer days. In the mean time, after the rollout in EMEA the webshop is now globally accessible for all Voith customers. Voith Paper is world market leader in the paper machine sector and stock preparation with a turnover of 2,100 million Euro in the first half-year of 2016 and about 20,000 staff at over 200 locations. Voith paper machines are up to 760 m long. Worldwide every third sheet of sheet of paper is produced on a Voith machine.

 

We realised the Voith paper webshop on the basis of the new easyKAT® B2B Webshop, implementing a number of functionalities tailor-made for a close connection with SAP and for the support of Voith's internal workflows (customer sales centre). With the help of easyKAT Standard components the project was successfully finished "in time and budget" in less than six months - from kickoff to commissioning with pilot customers. Close collaboration between project team Voith and Voith IT contributed to this.

 

Customers: convenient ordering

On the Voith Paper webshop customers can now find and order spares for their installations while using far more functionalities than in a normal shop system:

The shop provides material master data for non-registered customers and guest users and gives them many search and navigation possibilities, for instance in respect of categories and process steps. Registered customers can speedily find the right products in their own order histories and original deliveries through various customer oriented options (for instance drawing numbers, customer material numbers, installation location).

 

Fast update with SAP

All data from SAP is updated in a fast cache, others are drawn per web service from SAP. With the exception of image data and object dependencies of integrated easyKAT configurations all customer independent and customer relevant data is transferred from SAP or other IT-applications on the SAP periphery. For that reason the shop needs no data maintenance outside the ERP environment.

 

Runs on all devices

Although users can search for a multiplex of technical criteria every search is clearly presented. A state of the art user interface with modern surface elements based on HTML5 guarantees a responsive design and compatibility with all user devices including tablets and phablets.

 

 

Using a search function similar to the Amazon structure with preview results, customers can in real time search for parts names, categories, installation location, process steps, material numbers and customer item numbers in a central search field.

Direct recording in SAP rounds off the functionalities of the convenient ordering process.

 

 

Version 2 with PunchOut

The web shop's second version will be released at the beginning of 2017 and will allow customers to call up the web shop directly from SAP or their procurement system (so-called "punchout"). With that customers will be able to take over complete shopping baskets into their ERP and order directly from their ERP system, a functionality becoming increasingly important.

 

NFC tags: fast access to the right spare

In the meantime we have implemented the prototype for a usage scenario that brings the web shop even nearer to its users:

Users can in the future read out NFC tags with Android and Windows phones - one click and you are at the right spare part in the shop. An executable app for this functionality was presented at this year's Voith customer days.

The easyKAT B2B webshop's architecture is scalable, satisfying highest demands in respect of performance and number of simultaneous users. A specialised service provider tested this successfully at Voith in an independent evaluation.
